An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is a device that automatically switches the power source from the main utility (Meralco or local grid) to the generator when a power outage occurs — and then switches back to the utility once power is restored.
1. Automatic Power Source Transfer
‣ When utility power fails, the ATS detects the outage and starts the generator automatically.
‣ Once the generator is running and voltage is stable, the ATS transfers the load to the generator.
‣ When the utility power returns, the ATS switches back to utility supply and stops the generator after a short cool-down period.
2. Safety and Reliability
‣ Prevents back feeding, which could endanger linemen or damage equipment.
‣ Ensures only one power source is connected to your load at any time.
3. Continuous Power Supply
‣ Keeps your business, equipment, or facility running during brownouts or blackouts — no manual switching needed.
4. Convenience
‣ Operates automatically; no need for manual intervention even if no one is on site.
‣ Includes status indicators and alarms for easy monitoring.
